As libraries and archives in the United States and Canada responded to the COVID-19 crisis by temporarily closing and requiring staff to work from home, many archival workers — particularly those in contingent positions — faced lost income, furloughs, and layoffs.

This survey was created to capture a moment of upheaval and uncertainty in the archival field, and to help scope an emergency fund to provide support to displaced archival workers experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19. The survey is now closed.

The Archival Workers Emergency Fund has since been established by the SAA Foundation. Learn more at awefund.wordpress.com.
