LMS Best Practices in all Modalities

ASAC and eLET collaborated and produced a document of the what is recommended usage in Canvas for Face-to-Face, Hybrid and Online courses.  The session will start with the minimum recommendations for all courses and move to those that are completely online.  We will look at adding an Announcement, Instructor Bio, Contact information and Office hours, and plan for interaction.  We will also review the Syllabus tool and how to add one.  The final minimum component is the Grades area. We will take a look at how grades can be added to Canvas for students to use to keep track of their progress.  The remainder of the session will be the other recommended elements for hybrid and online courses.  

Google Slides with Canvas- A Powerful Combination for Moving Online

Googleize Canvas with Google Sheets and Docs

See how Sheets can simplify your life! Use it for spreadsheets, data functions, charts, and graphs with a free tool that is not only easy to use but accessible from any device! Students can also collaborate on a single sheet. Then learn how to embed sheets in the LMS using Drive, and how to share with faculty and students.
What's up with docs?  Learn the major functions for creating, editing and sharing documents in the easy to use Google format. Also learn the value of templates, and how to leverage Docs in your online course. Also how to collaborate with students and others on a single document.

Using the New RCE (Rich Content Editor)

 Join us to learn the new and improved RCE will provide a more streamlined experience for content creation by consolidating a lot of similar functions so that a single row of buttons can perform all of the same actions that the two rows and the sidebar performed in the old rich content editor.

Moving your content to Modules?

Do you know how to structure your online content in Canvas? We will build out a course from lectures, powerpoints, quizzes, assignments, and links using the Modules area of Canvas.  Create focused, streamlined content that is easy for students to follow and complete.

The Possibilities of Open Education Resources
Monday, 3/30  7pm
This webinar will explain Open Educational Resources, where they can be found, and how they can benefit students.  You’ll learn how to search for OER on the internet and in specialized repositories.  There will be examples of how OER can be used for classes.  We will also cover financial and academic benefits to students.
