A Gentleman for Christmas

Rate this book
Some say “chivalry is dead.”

I don’t think so. Most women I know like a gentleman.

Protective, opens doors, treats women with respect, typically follows the rules.

But a gentleman doesn’t fall for his best friend’s woman. Current or ex.

And that’s what I’ve done.

During the Christmas season of all times — that magical time for decorations, gifts, family . . .

Yes, the girl who was off-limits for so long, who I’ve loved all my life, has come back in town and possibly back to me.

I can’t follow the gentleman rules this time. There’s too much at stake. I let her go once. I won’t let her go again.

What happens under the mistletoe, stays under the mistletoe.

Or does it?

A Gentleman for Christmas is a stand alone, fairly short holiday story that I am completely in love with. This book was everything. I had butterflies, I swooned, I sighed, I gasped. It was amazing.

Jax Teigan and Skylar grew up next door to each other. They have known each other all their lives. They were best friends with three other friends, Luke, Malcolm and Maci, the five of them inseparable. Jax knew Luke had a crush on Skylar, but so did he. He’d been in love with her since they were in elementary school. But Jax kept his feelings to himself. He let Luke make his move, and Jax lost his chance, and his heart. Now ten years later, Skyler is back and single. He’s not making the same mistake again.

“Skylar is the one woman that has stuck to me. No matter what I do. I haven’t ever been able to exorcise the pull I feel to her.”

Skyler left Waterscape, Florida where she grew up and lived in Chicago as did Luke. They’d been together ten years, but it was over. Now she’s back in Waterscape. As she and Jax spend time together, he doesn’t hesitate to let her know how he feels. How he’s always felt. It’s too soon, her feelings are too raw. But it’s Christmas and Jax makes her feel happy. Isn’t that what’s more important? Can’t she just push the rest away for now and enjoy this time?

“Rules or no rules. Bro code or not, I know all I want for Christmas this year and every year is Skylar.”

Skyler and Jax are forced to deal with their long buried feelings for each other as well as the guilt of caring for the ex girlfriend of his close friend. But Skyler has always had Jax’s heart, she just never knew it. This could be their chance at finally finding the happiness that always escaped them.

“The gentleman rules, but the lady commands.”

I loved every single thing about this book. Jax made my heart do little flip flops in my chest. He felt so much for Skyler and he didn’t hold back a bit! She might not have been ready for all of his honesty but he was going for it big time.

This is only my second book by Prescott Lane. I had the same reaction with the first book I read of hers, Ryder. I fell madly in love with it. So I think this means I’m a fan. And I definitely need to check out her other books. Don’t miss this perfect holiday book. I hope you love these two as much as I did.

Jax is part of a group of friends that have been together since childhood. For as long as he can remember, it’s been Maci & Malcolm and Luke & Skylar and him. But before there was Luke & Skylar, it was Jax & Skylar as best friends. Now she’s back home in Florida for Christmas, having severed her 10-year relationship with Luke. Circumstances also worked out that she now has to stay with Jax instead of Maci & Malcolm and she’s clearly shattered and done with Luke.

I was unprepared for how “big” this story turned out to be in terms of overall character development, plot and complexity. I still can’t believe this is a novella as it is so complete in every aspect that short stories rarely pull off. Jax has always loved Skylar and she had a crush on him as a pre-teen through high school. She ended up with Luke (you’ll have to read it to find out why) and they’ve been together since, living in Chicago. What further complicates the situation is Jax is a relationship consultant, leading seminars that guide women—and men—on how they should be cared for and nurtured by men. He’s breaking a serious friend code by even thinking of finally pursuing a relationship with Skylar.

This was a nicely layered story of three people in a complicated situation that will potentially have devastating impacts on all five friends and each other. I felt like I knew each of these people intimately and it was often difficult to choose sides with ease. I normally loathe love triangles but this story isn’t that. The group dynamics, individual behaviors and relationships are all examined and shifted. The drama is realistic and the emotional pain was palpable at times, though there were so many situations providing comic relief. There aren’t any villains, just five people who loved each other and now must adjust to a different relationship. It’s just an outstanding story.

Favorite Quotes:

I’m in trouble. She’s in “all men are assholes” mode. Threat level red. Someone should hoist the red flag up on the beach, warning hazardous conditions ahead.

The beach is wide, the water vast, the sky unending, and I’m reminded how small I am, like a single grain of sand… I look out toward the horizon, where the blue sky meets the blue water. Two shades of the same color. That’s the perfect way to think about Jax and me… Jax and I are the horizon, where he ends I begin, and vice versa.

I feel like I’m a kid in an expensive store, and I’m not supposed to touch… You’re worth too much.

“You were my first love,” I whisper but don’t make eye contact. He kneels, taking both my hands. His blue eyes look up at me, full of warmth. “I want to be your last,” he whispers back.

My Review:

Christmas came early for me this year and I’ve already enjoyed my gift from Prescott Lane. I adored this well-paced holiday novella from start to finish. Crisp and thoughtfully written in my favorite dual POV by one of my favorite authors, it covered all the bases as a friends to lovers, second chance, Christmas, and small-town romance. Plus, it had all the feels, buckets of wry humor, and Kindle melting love scenes. Nirvana!

I had mixed feels about this read...

It was somehow a bittersweet inspite the HEA that was expected...

I loved the writing as I always do in Prescott Lane's books...she writes about 'real life' situations and subjects and the tension of having these 'familiar' issues dealt with and participate in this 'life like' movie/story unwined in front of my eyes....makes all the more investment...

and I still have to come to terms that most of the times life is messy as hell, things are more than complicated, imperfrctly screwed and there is no black and white, and *sigh* yeah, I guess sometimes people get hurt in order to find their way to one another....

*another sigh*

What does the man who wrote The Gentleman's Guide really know about love? It turns out, not everything, not even close. When the girl who got away comes back into his life Jax pulls out all the stops and while he uses some of his rules, he makes and breaks some along the way too. Skylar's heart is a bit tender, but it isn't broken, at least not where Jax is concerned. The feelings they kept to themselves all those years ago come right back to the surface when Jax sweeps in like a gentleman and saves Christmas. But Christmas is a like living in a bubble and when the week is up where do things stand? Is it Jax and Skylar's time or does Skylar need space to be on her own for the first time?

"Have I been brought home this Christmas for a reason?"

A Gentleman for Christmas is my favorite kind of holiday romance and it's even better since it's written by one of my favorites, Prescott Lane. While Jax's role as a powerful, influential self-help author and speaker isn't relatable, his situation with longtime best friend Skylar is. He follows the bro code, the one he preaches about in his Gentleman's Guides, but she's always been the one he wants and sometimes gentlemen break the rules. Skylar is sweet, smart, and really sassy. She breaks down the armor Jax has up around him, taking him from handsome, unreachable guy in a suit to that friend you can tell anything to. It's obvious that despite the friendship they have that something more simmers between them. Like all classic friends to lover stories, there's drama, there's heart, and there's heat. A Gentleman for Christmas ticks all the boxes for me when it comes to contemporary romance with the perfect Christmas bow on top.

I'm docking half a star for the friendship incident that takes place in this book. It's a difficult subject and ultimately took away from the happily ever after that you always expect and usually get from a Christmas themed novel. It's realistic in showing that life is messy and sometimes you lose some to win some, but for me it was like someone taking a bite out of the pie before it's been cut.

A Gentleman for Christmas has the perfect title, cover, and story; Prescott Lane hit this one out of the park. It's sweet and has the perfect holiday spirit to it, without being too Hallmark Channel movie like. It's a book about the bonds of friendship, family, and love and the life lessons we learn along the way.

This was a well-written holiday novella that had plenty of feels and made me want to keep reading.

Jax has some of the swooniest lines that melted my heart. The guy is definitely a gentleman I’d like to have for Christmas.

“It should’ve been us at prom. We should’ve been college sweethearts. We should’ve been each other’s first.” I reach out and take her hand. “The past ten years should’ve been mine.”

See?? ^

I loved his love for Skylar.
I loved their friendship.
I envied their bond.
I loved how determined he was to not let her go this time.

IMHO, I wanted/needed Skylar to grieve the relationship she had with Luke a little bit longer. She was with him for 10 years, so maybe if there had been more time after the breakup before her and Jax got together, I’d be happier?

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed this story very much!

I know Jax has loved her for...ever.
And even Skylar wanted him way back then. I know he’d take a bullet for her. He will do what it takes to keep her.

I enjoyed the mixture of humor and heart and passion this story had. It was touching, it gave me smiles, and even pulled at the heartstrings a time or two, making me tear up.

This was my first read by Prescott Lane and I look forward to more!

Two things bothered me while I was reading the book. The first one was the first few pages where we learn that Jax slept with his ex, once again. It was an unnecessary detail and I don't really need to know that in order to understand what kind of person the hero of the novella is. This is a 122 pages story after all. The second thing that did the most damage was Skylar's relationship with Luke. They broke up one day and practically the next she is starting something not platonic with Jax. She got over her 10-year relationship unrealistically fast even with everything that happened. I would have loved to see her spend some time finding herself again and not been in a relationship. That jump from one relationship to another made me think that she is not a healthy person and needs to always be in a relationship. Jax was mostly ok, after the whole ex-incident, but I wanted something more for Skylar. I wasn't a big fan of the novella, but at the same time, I read it with easiness and I found the transition from former best friends to lovers good. The rule that prevented him from asking Skylar out all those years ago is one used often in books and irl, but I still didn't like it.

A Gentleman for Christmas
By: Prescott Lane
4.5 Pink Cruiser Stars

I absolutely love reading Christmas stories. Although they’ve certainly changed over the years, nothing beats a good story with an even better Christmas.

We’ve all had that unwritten rule playing in the back of our head on replay our entire life. Never date the ex of a good friend. You just don’t do it.

But what if….

What if the person who is meant to be YOUR forever is available now that they’ve ended a 10-year relationship with one of your best friends? The one who you’ve loved since a young age… The one you broke her heart all because of a unwritten rule way back then.

Jax is truly a gentleman! Yes, he has had women in his life. But none that meant anything to him. They were there just to satisfy his manly needs. Never anything more. All because he can’t forget the one that should have been his… If it weren’t for that darn unwritten rule…

Skylar, the 10 years have gone by and still no marriage proposal. Still in the dead-end relationship that is on the highway to nowhere. Once she caught her boyfriend of 10 years in a situation that you can never heal from… Skylar deems its Time to end this relationship and move on. Heading back to Waterscape to have girl time with her BFF, she would have never thought things would end up this way!

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. The history these two have together made this story! Plus being centered around the holidays, it was a perfect present to enjoy.

What a delightful Christmas read. In fact, it’s one of those books you’ll pick up, won’t want to put down and have even less desire for it to end. The title couldn’t have been more apt, seeing as the male protagonist is just that, the perfect and chivalrous gentleman. And the cover! Isn’t it gorgeous? This is the second book I’ve read by Lane and can’t tell you how impressed I am by her creative writing.

Jax Teigan has it all. Or does he? Successful and drop-dead gorgeous, a true ladies’ man who’d mastered gentleman’s rules, even made it his business. But does what he preach work for him? Women flock to his seminars eager to learn what’s missing in their lives, how to make it better and believe in themselves. He is a star, a truly magnificent speaker that draws in the crowd with his charm; nonetheless, would he be able to abide by his own rules?

‘I’m the gentleman behind the handbook, but I don’t have a damn clue.’

Hmm...an interesting question considering the one woman who’s been filling his thoughts since just about forever is beyond a pact’s boundaries. Will he or won’t he break it and if so, could he lose both of his best friends in the process? One of them has been left in the dark which makes it all that more interesting. Not surprisingly, this causes confusion as the whole situation is far from clear. Jax’s loyalties are divided, his dilemma intriguing, and I loved how the author made me doubt whether his childhood sweetheart would succumb to his gentle persuasion. Does Jax throw caution to the wind and confess his true feeling? One-click and you'll find out!

“A man’s refusal to love you back or make a commitment has nothing to do with you.”

Skylar’s returns to her roots for Christmas and she’s not exactly in the celebrating mood! I have no wish to tell you why, but I will say the last person she expects to see just happens to be the first to greet her. It’s difficult not to like this gal. She’d made a decision long ago, it didn’t turn out how she thought it would, and she’s running scared. Her wariness to get involved I found understandable, her inner-strength nothing less than admirable.

“Don’t you know you’re unbreakable?”

A second chance romance at its very best, Lane’s shaped a narrative overflowing with playful banter, built up flirty tension and racy scenarios which made this story a really engaging one. Her protagonists are easy to invest in, their emotional connection off the charts. Told in first-person from a dual point of view, reading about their past shenanigans got me chuckling to myself. Spot on supporting character development; their flaws, strengths and weaknesses included tied up the story neatly. I would have liked it to be a little longer but all said and done, it is an Xmas novella. Bravo Lane!

A Gentleman for Christmas gave me all those holiday feels. The perfect holiday treat. It was sweet, sexy and it'll warm your heart.

Skylar has just gotten out of a very long relationship. She always thought she'd be at a different stage into her and Luke's relationship, but as time passes that's just not the case. Heartbroken and alone, Skylar decides to go home for Christmas. At least she knows there, she'll be surrounded by the people who love her, her mom and friends. And hopefully being there her heart will start to mend. Though she didn't expect for to be reunited with someone from her past.

Jax has made a success by writing the Gentleman's Rules. And when Skylar, the girl he's always liked returns home unexpectedly it has him wanting to break his own rules. He knows he can't break bro code, go after his friends ex, but he can't help when what he feels for Skylar is so much more and worth breaking the rules for.

Jax and Skylar's attraction is undeniable. Their chemistry was off the charts. They didn't rush into anything. Jax knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was patient. I just loved them together.

A Gentleman for Christmas was a sweet second chance and friends to lovers romance I couldn't get enough of.

A Gentleman For Christmas is a perfect holiday treat! Sweet and sexy and warm enough to melt your heart!

“In war as in love, there are rules of engagement. You have to know when to strike, know when to wait, know when to go in guns blazing.”

I loved this second chance, friends to lovers story! Jax just cannot break the bro code, the Gentleman’s rule. He can’t date his best friend’s ex, even if he was in love with her first. And even if he loves her too much to back away.

“Gentleman’s Rule—When you find the right woman, never let go.”

Skylar is heartbroken after her break up with Luke. She had her life mapped out and suddenly things were not what she had planned. Jax had already hurt her a long time ago and she didn’t want to allow him back in.

“You were my first love,” I whisper but don’t make eye contact.
He kneels, taking both my hands. His blue eyes look up at me, full of warmth. “I want to be your last,” he whispers back.”

Love love loved, Jax and Skylar’s story!!

Every lady needs a Gentleman for Christmas! One like just like Jax! This is a short but very complete, satisfying story with lots of feelings & emotions - a good Friends to Lovers, Second Chance romance. Jax breaks all his own rules when he gets a second chance with Skylar, the one that got away. In spite of regrets, torn loyalties, and the "never date a best friend's ex" rules, he lays it all on the line for love. A fantastic holiday Must Read!

Perfect.

Another book by Prescott Lane I couldn't put down. I loved this book of second chances.

Skylar returns home after a break up with her boyfriend of 9 years and is supposed to stay with her best friend Maci but due to a sickness bug in the family she stays with their mutual friend Jax instead so she doesn't get the sickness bug.

Skylar is still licking her wounds from her recent break up with Luke but wants to enjoy her Christmas with her friends as well as planning her new future.
Skylar, Luke, Jax, Maci and Malcolm all grew up together. Malcolm and Maci were teen sweethearts then married and Skylar hoped she and Luke would follow the same path but it never happened, maybe it was fate, some things happen for a reason maybe?

To Jax, Skylar is the one that got away, the girl he should have taken to prom instead of his best friend Luke, he let bro code come first, a regret he has carried for years and now Skylar is back home and it's time to man up, finally share his feelings and break the seal on the bro- code.

I loved this fate filled romance. Friendships are tested, hearts are broken and it's a story of may the best man win.

I swooned, laughed and enjoyed the chemistry between Skylar and Jax.

I read A GENTLEMAN FOR CHRISTMAS in one sitting and was so eager to know how this would all unfold.

Jax was determined, demanding and so swoon-worthy.

A perfect heartwarming friends to lovers romance

Told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea
No heavy drama or cheating. Recommended Christmas romance.

Can I get Jax for Christmas? He was the best part of the book - and the book was really good as a whole. I loved the second chance romance, especially since it featured childhood friends. I also thought the plot was really unique since all the players involved were childhood friends so the shifts in relationships had rippling affects through the entire group. I would've been happy to see this as a full novel - I want more Jax! I was absolutely flabbergasted by the actions of Skylar's ex and had she and Jax not had a pre-existing relationship and history, I would've been skeptical about the swiftness of their connection, but somehow Prescott Lane made it all work (and well)! As usual, I can't wait to read whatever the author comes out with next!

I loved Jax and Skyler's book. What a great story. At first, diving into this book I wasn't sure what to think being that this group was so close. After hearing what happened in Skyler's past relationship I was happy to see her move on. I also loved the supporting characters. I wold totally recommend this book. It was too heavy, the romance was sweet and it was a great story line. I just recently found this author and now want to read all her past work. A great, short holiday read!!!

A Gentleman For Christmas is a wonderful holiday romance story about two childhood best friends who are unexpectedly reunited in their hometown during the Christmas holiday after being apart for ten years, and their discovery of the holiday season's magical gift of receiving a second chance at love.

Author Prescott Lane weaves a beautiful romantic tale that takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride as they follow Jax and Skylar's story. Their story is set in the small southern beach town of Waterscape, Florida. Jax and Skylar are part of a tight-knit group of childhood friends that include Maci, Malcolm, and Luke. But Jax and Skylar were longtime childhood best friends until he messed things up ... Jax let Skylar get away when Luke expressed an interest in dating Skylar. The guys have a "bro code" where they vowed to never let a girl come between them, and if one of them likes/dates a girl, then she is forever off limits. Ten years later, Jax is a successful author / motivational speaker who wrote The Gentleman's Handbook, a series of relationship and lifestyle books. But there is one little problem ... Jax doesn't follow his own rules ... especially when Skylar comes home heartbroken after breaking up with Luke ... because this time Jax isn't letting Skylar get away!

Told in alternating first person narratives by Jax and Skylar, these two childhood best friends reunite unexpectedly when Skylar comes home after breaking up with Luke, her boyfriend of ten years. Jax has always loved Skylar, but he let her get away and tried to honor the "bro code", but Skylar is the forbidden fruit that he wants so badly. Their story is filled with friendship, laughter, angst, family and relationship dramas, friendship conflicts, and the amazing chance of having an unrequited love finally become fulfilled.

A Gentleman For Christmas is a sweet and sexy friends to lovers second chance love story that is very swoon worthy. I loved how the author draws the reader into Jax and Skylar's story with flashbacks to their childhood past intertwined with the present. It is filled with emotional angst and drama, and a slow smoldering craving and build up of sexual tension that leads up to a passionate romance that will send tingles down your spine. I was Team Jax from the start, he is the kind of Gentleman that any girl could easily fall in love with. I loved getting to know the group of friends, especially childhood sweethearts/married couple Maci and Malcolm, because they are the glue that kept the love triangle of Jax, Skylar, and Luke from tearing their longtime friendship apart. Finally, I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I really enjoyed Jax's various "Gentleman's Rules" that were included throughout the book, especially my favorite rule: "when you find the right woman, never let her go."

A Gentleman For Christmas is a beautiful holiday romance story of best friends getting a second chance at true love and moving forward in life that will resonate with you for a very long time.

Prescott Lane is quickly becoming one of my must read authors and this is another one of her books that I struggled to put down.

I’m not usually one to go for the gentleman in my books. I can’t get enough of a flawed bad boy but Jax has 100% converted me. Good looking, extremely successful and a true gentleman...Jax has got it all going on. So much so that he’s turned the art of been a gentleman in to a successful business. When his best friends ex returns to town for Christmas Jax is faced with a dilemma. Does he stick to the gentleman’s rules and stay away from the woman he’s loved for years? Or is it time for him to break the rules and take a risk by confessing his true feelings? I really felt for Jax. He so badly wants to do the right thing when it comes to his friendships but he also wants to do the right thing for himself and his future and I don’t envy the choice he has to make.

Skylar is fresh out of a relationship and wants to spend Christmas with her friends while she works on her battered heart and tries to figure out what she’s going to do now. When her friends family come down ill, Skylar has no choice but to stay with Jax. Skylar is oblivious to Jax’s feelings towards her, he hurt her years ago and she’s had no reason to think his feelings have changed. Now with them both single and thrown into living in the same house it’s only a matter of time until their old feelings reappear.

I loved this book. The banter and chemistry are perfect and even though the story should probably have left me feeling a little more conflicted, I was completely on Jax’s side to win the girl and was 100% rooting for him and Skylar. A prefect book to read especially around Christmas time.

The book centers around a group of friends and their friendships, love, romance, family and respect. We have it told in SKylar’s and Jax’s view. Frankly I love Jax. He is sarcastic, honest, real and we truly see that he follows his books but stretches the intent to fit what he wants. I love that moment on stage when he is giving his talk to all those woman and his speech changes so he can give a personal message to Skylar. The girl he loves and let get away and is trying to get to forgive him and why did this happen? Luke. Jax’s bestie and Skylar’s ex. Luke who Jax set aside his feelings for Skylar so he could be with her. Luke who is to me selfish and mean. I say this because of his actions in this book. He is a bit spoiled to say the least.

Jax and Skylar were close until Jax respected Luke’s feelings. That is when he lost Skylar in so many ways the first time. Now the tables have turned and Jax is hoping to get Skylar to forgive and become more with him. Jax is willing to risk so much for his love for Skylar. It is heartwarming to see.

Jax is a great guy. Honest, funny, sweet and genuinely an all around good guy. He writes books on being a gentleman and is quite successful. He is a relationship consultant, leading seminars that guide women—and men—on how they should be cared for and nurtured by men. He is also sexy as sin.

Skylar is the girl who got away and is now back. She is having a hard time with life at the moment. Luke did something that caused her to walk away and now she is in need of her bestie Macie. Only Macie’s household is ill and so Jax is to the rescue. He takes advantage of it to. Skylar makes Jax’s house feel like a home and she infuses it with her warmth and kindness. We get to see from the beginning that they are attracted to one another. Jax more that Skylar at the beginning. We watch them navigate through the tough waters and find themselves fighting the attraction (at least Skylar is, Jax is trying to take it slow and show Skylar how he truly feels.) Jax is risking so many friendships for his love for Skylar and we see this in the reactions of those around him.

The story overall is nicely layered and builds upon the complications of relationships and the situation of Jax, Skylar and Luke. We have great character and story development. We see the dynamics of friendships and the impact of one’s relationship and feelings can have on the group of friends. We feel the emotions of each character come through page and the drama is very real in how it has been written. A wonderful story on friendship, romance and love. On being with the one you love no matter the consequences. Prescott Lane has once again given us a beautiful yet complicated romance that you cannot put down and fall in love with.

3.5 Stars!

Genre: Contemporary Seasonal Romance

Standalone

Skylar, Luke, Jax, Maci and Malcolm were high school best friends and remained best friends even when 2 of them moved away. In this friendship group some became couples and some were just friends. And the number one rule within friends is not to covet what the other has, especially when it comes to girlfriends.

Jax is living large as a successful single man whom is also a motivational speaker. However, he's also not always following his own playbook. When Skylar comes home devastated he has to choose between his heart or his loyalty.

When Skylar was younger she always had a crush on Jax but he broke her heart, which made it easier to be and follow Luke away from her hometown and her broken heart. Now after Luke hurts her she finds her way back to her home and back into Jax's life.

"But there's love and then there's love. Jax would take a bullet for you. Luke would push you out of the way. There's a difference."

One of my favorite things was I liked that there wasn't a drawn out angst and miscommunication. Once the truth bomb hit there was quick forgiveness and the story moved forward. However, it did take 10 years for her to here the truth, but the story started after the 10 years so all is good on that front.

This book was super sweet, quick paced and had all the holiday feels. I'm a huge fan of Prescott Lane and she gave us another sweet story about love and second chances.

A Gentleman for Christmas celebrates friendship and true love in a story set in holiday season. Jax has a book of rules. Gentleman's rule. And he makes a living out of it literally. But all his rules go out of the window when his childhood best friend Skylar ends up at his place in Christmas holiday after breaking up with another of his best friend. Sparks fly, passion burns, hearts break, chaos ensues and we get an amazing story!

What is more important? Friendship code among a group of best friends or the fear of losing something real and meaningful like love of your life? The author will make you feel conflicted and intrigued throughout the story. It's a sweet and swoony love story with interesting twists. Jax was so great in every way. I could feel all his doubts, guilt, pain and love for Skylar. Skylar was amazing too! It was very easy to lose the story and make it something the readers may not agree with. But it turned out to be an excellent second chance romance! I found myself cheering for Team Jax and Skylar all the way. The story reminds you that christmas is ultimately about love, bonding and forgiving. Life sometimes throw unique chances at you. Grab them or grieve later.

A thoroughly enjoyable sweet and sexy story full of holiday spirits! Prescott Lane has a winner in her hand for sure.

This is my second ARC from Ms. Prescott Lane. I was so excited to sign up because of the blurb and because I'm a Christmas-person.

I devoured this overnight... page after page, it was just—intriguing... enticing.

Its an easy read... and sure there sad moments but those never stay sad for long... the characters were great but the pacing was a wee bit hurried, to me at least. I felt like the relationship needed to stew a little bit.

I am all for drama and a gripping love triangle... I know both leads were in love with each other a long time but didn't exactly knew how the other felt until only recently... I understand that bottled-up feelings tend to over spill over... its just... It would've been better if their timeline stretched-out a bit... Like in real life, it would've been awkward when its the first time you become single in 10years and you jump into a relationship right away... to someone whom you consider a best-friend... you've all been friends for a long time and so is your ex-boyfriend... Aaaand it wasn't even clear why the ex did what he did... it just didn't make sense... it was all about the key and then you discovered the unthinkable... If I expound on this more, I'm afraid I might give away important points of the story... So I'm just going to stop right now...

I enjoyed the story. This book will teach you about loving yourself more... setting up standards you know you deserve and believe in fate—that what's meant to be will always find it's way.

If you're looking for a quick and easy holiday read, this is the book to pick up next. This will definitely give you the warm fuzzy-feels... and who knows, maybe Jax could be your new book-boyfriend!

Guys have many rules when it comes to dating women….you know Bro Code. So what happens when the woman you have loved all your life is your Best Friends woman?? Do you break the rules or do save the friendship??

Read A Gentleman for Christmas to find out how Jax and Skylar made it through.

A Gentleman For Christmas is a entertaining and quick holiday read. Perfect to read now and get you in the holiday mood :) It is a standalone novella, so it won’t take you long to read. But just because it is a novella, it was’t lacking for anything. We still got all the emotion and heart and even some drama, that we always get with a Prescott Lane book.

This story is told in Dual POV and is a complete standalone. No other book needs to be read or is referenced before enjoying this holiday treat. I know I found myself swept up in the holiday spirit and this story.

In this book we follow the story of Jax and Skylar. Jax and Skylar have been friends since they were kids, along with Luke, Maci and Malcolm. Jax and Skylar were the best of friends for a long time until Jax broke Skylar’s heart in high school. What Skylar didn’t know was the reason he made that mistake…..bro code. So now 10 years later Skylar is coming back home after yet again another heart break. Jax sees this as another chance to win her heart. But at what expense?? Can Jax and Skylar finally get their HEA?? What will happen to all the friendships this will effect?? Read this book to find out those answers.

I would definitely recommend this book to all fans of Prescott Lane’s and any reader who likes a great holiday friends to lovers story. This is for sure worth the read!!!

But for me ... i feel u have to follow ur heart. if you love some1 ... pushing it down ...is not right!! love who u love and be okay with those people loving them. u know??! loved it. Childhood best friends to drifted apart to lovers story. I am a total sucker for childhood best friends to romance stories. This novella is sweet, felt real, I could actually see this as a movie, easily.

Jax and Skylar are old friends. The sweetest friendship when they were kids. The selflessness they experienced with each other was so heartmelting. But things happen in high school, and they became distant, seeing each other few times here and there because they have the same circle of friends. After 10 years, she's out of a relationship that involves a mutual friend. She is thrust back into her Jax's life. Jax realizes, this is his chance to be with the one girl he's always loved his whole life and he's not going to lose. I loved Jax. He was patient but wanted Skylar to know how much she meant to him and she everything was about to change. I loved his devotion to her. He is really a sweet, loving hero. Great holiday best friends to lovers read.

Honestly, I would have loved this to be a full-length novel. There was just not enough about Jax and Skylar, I needed more time! I loved how easy the story was and there was so much involved in this story in such a small book that I'm shocked it didn't feel rushed in the slightest.

The secrets that caused Skylar and Luke's break up are revealed and Jax becomes the protective hero that everyone wants in their life. I know first hand that following rules is never easy and I struggle much more at following my own rules, which seems to be the case for Jax when it comes to Skyler. At the end of the day, love doesn't come with a rulebook and Jax can try and teach the rules to as many people as he likes but he has no idea what love actually is until he finally has Skylar. Then the rulebook changes.

This is such a quick, easy romance filled with festive cheer and definitely what I needed for a December pick me up.
