Isaiah 40:25–28 — English Standard Version (ESV)

25 To whom then will you compare me,

that I should be like him? says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:

who created these?

He who brings out their host by number,

calling them all by name;

by the greatness of his might

and because he is strong in power,

not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

and speak, O Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my right is disregarded by my God”?

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high,

And behold who hath created these things,

That bringeth out their host by number:

He calleth them all by names

By the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power;

Not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel,

My way is hid from the Lord,

And my judgment is passed over from my God?

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,

That the everlasting God, the Lord,

The Creator of the ends of the earth,

Fainteth not, neither is weary?

There is no searching of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — New Living Translation (NLT)

25 “To whom will you compare me?

Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.

26 Look up into the heavens.

Who created all the stars?

He brings them out like an army, one after another,

calling each by its name.

Because of his great power and incomparable strength,

not a single one is missing.

27 O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?

O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?

28 Have you never heard?

Have you never understood?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of all the earth.

He never grows weak or weary.

No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

25 “To whom then will you liken Me,

Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high,

And see who has created these things,

Who brings out their host by number;

He calls them all by name,

By the greatness of His might

And the strength of His power;

Not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

And speak, O Israel:

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

And my just claim is passed over by my God”?

28 Have you not known?

Have you not heard?

The everlasting God, the Lord,

The Creator of the ends of the earth,

Neither faints nor is weary.

His understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — New Century Version (NCV)

25 God, the Holy One, says, “Can you compare me to anyone?

Is anyone equal to me?”

26 Look up to the skies.

Who created all these stars?

He leads out the army of heaven one by one

and calls all the stars by name.

Because he is strong and powerful,

not one of them is missing.

27 People of Jacob, why do you complain?

People of Israel, why do you say,

“The Lord does not see what happens to me;

he does not care if I am treated fairly”?

28 Surely you know.

Surely you have heard.

The Lord is the God who lives forever,

who created all the world.

He does not become tired or need to rest.

No one can understand how great his wisdom is.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — American Standard Version (ASV)

25 To whom then will ye liken me, that I should be equal to him? saith the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who hath created these, that bringeth out their host by number; he calleth them all by name; by the greatness of his might, and for that he is strong in power, not one is lacking.

27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah, and the justice due to me is passed away from my God? 28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? The everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

25 To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One. 26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see! Who hath created these things, bringing out their host by number? He calleth them all by name; through the greatness of his might and strength of power, not one faileth.

27 Why sayest thou, Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, My way is hid from Jehovah, and my right is passed away from my God? 28 Dost thou not know, hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, Jehovah, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not nor tireth? There is no searching of his understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

25 “To whom, then, can you compare me?

Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.

26 Look at the sky and see.

Who created these things?

Who brings out the stars one by one?

He calls them all by name.

Because of the greatness of his might and the strength of his power,

not one of them is missing.

27 Jacob, why do you complain?

Israel, why do you say,

“My way is hidden from the Lord

and my rights are ignored by my God”?

28 Don’t you know?

Haven’t you heard?

The eternal God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,

doesn’t grow tired or become weary.

His understanding is beyond reach.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

25 “Who will you compare Me to,

or who is My equal?” asks the Holy One.

26 Look up and see:

who created these?

He brings out the starry host by number;

He calls all of them by name.

Because of His great power and strength,

not one of them is missing.

27 Jacob, why do you say,

and Israel, why do you assert:

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my claim is ignored by my God”?

28 Do you not know?

Have you not heard?

Yahweh is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the whole earth.

He never grows faint or weary;

there is no limit to His understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

25 To whom then will you compare me,

or who is my equal? says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high and see:

Who created these?

He who brings out their host and numbers them,

calling them all by name;

because he is great in strength,

mighty in power,

not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,

and speak, O Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

and my right is disregarded by my God”?

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?

The Lord is the everlasting God,

the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He does not faint or grow weary;

his understanding is unsearchable.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

25 “And to whom you will compare me, and am I equal?” says the holy one.

26 Lift your eyes up on high, and see! Who created these?

The one who brings out their host by number.

He calls all them by name.

Because he is great of power

and mighty of power, not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, Jacob,

and you speak, Israel,

“My way is hidden from Yahweh,

and my judgment is passed over by my God?”

28 Have you not known,

or have you not heard?

Yahweh is the God of eternity,

the creator of the ends of the earth!

He is not faint, and he does not grow weary!

There is no searching his understanding.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)

25 “So who will you compare me to?

Who is equal to me?” says the Holy One.

26 Look up toward the sky.

Who created everything you see?

The Lord causes the stars to come out at night one by one.

He gives each one of them a name.

His power and strength are great.

So none of the stars is missing.

27 Family of Jacob, why do you say,

“The Lord doesn’t notice our condition”?

People of Israel, why do you say,

“Our God doesn’t pay any attention to our rightful claims”?

28 Don’t you know who made everything?

Haven’t you heard about him?

The Lord is the God who lives forever.

He created everything on earth.

He won’t become worn out or get tired.

No one will ever know how great his understanding is.

Isaiah 40:25–28 — New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (NASB95)

25 “To whom then will you liken Me

That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high

And see who has created these stars,

The One who leads forth their host by number,

He calls them all by name;

Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,

Not one of them is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and assert, O Israel,

“My way is hidden from the Lord,

And the justice due me escapes the notice of my God”?

28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?

The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth

Does not become weary or tired.

His understanding is inscrutable.
