WACO, Texas – Baylor University Vice President and Director of Athletics, Mack B. Rhoades, IV, announced today the athletic department's adjusted ticketing structure for the 2020-21 men's and women's basketball seasons. Renewed season ticket holders will have exclusive priority to request tickets to home games via two miniplan style ticket packages. Details for season ticket holders regarding ticket packages and policies can be found on the
Basketball Season Updates page on the Baylor Athletics website.
Rhoades also announced that Baylor Athletics will begin the season with 25 percent capacity per game at the Ferrell Center for both men's and women's basketball. Due to capacity limitations, social distancing guidelines and other necessary protocols, Baylor Athletics will eliminate season tickets for the 2020-21 season. Renewed season ticket holders may apply previous ticket payments as a credit towards one or both of the two available ticket packages. The Ferrell Center will be re-manifested to support social distancing, and ticket packages will be sold only to renewed season ticket holders. Bear Foundation priority ranking will determine order for ticket selection and a maximum ticket amount of up to four (4) tickets per account, per package, will be implemented in the arena bowl.
"As we look forward to basketball season, we remain intensely focused on the well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and loyal fans," Rhoades said. "We continue to work closely with our Athletics Event Management and Health and Wellness teams, along with NCAA, Big 12 Conference, State and local officials to push forward with plans for a safe and exciting basketball season."
Rhoades also emphasized the need for contributions towards the Re-United Relief Initiative, which encourages philanthropic support to help minimize the financial challenges Baylor Athletics continues to face in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Now, more than ever, we ask for your philanthropic support through the Baylor Bear Foundation," he said. "The athletic department is expecting an approximate 20% revenue decline this year, which impacts our ability to serve more than 500 current Baylor student-athletes. We invite the Baylor Family – as they are able – to join us as we continue to carry out our vision of Preparing Champions for Life."
In addition to the changes noted, all Baylor basketball tickets and parking for the 2020-21 season will be delivered digitally and may be saved and scanned from a mobile device. Reserved season parking will be condensed into Ferrell Center Lots A and B, based on Bear Foundation priority ranking. All other Ferrell Center lots will be free on a first come, first served basis.
Baylor Athletics continues to evaluate the holistic game-day experience to ensure a safe environment for student-athletes, coaches, staff and fans. Safety requirements for fans are likely to include required face coverings, self-health assessments, and more as have been implemented in Athletics venues throughout the fall. More information on those efforts and policies can be found
here.
Details about how Ferrell Center capacity and schedule adjustments will affect other University activities, such as student ticketing, will be outlined in the coming weeks.
