Details of the upcoming Commencement Ceremonies for the class of 2024 are listed below. Please be sure to check this page regularly as additional information will be posted in the coming weeks and months.

2024 Commencement Ceremonies

There will be two ceremonies: one for candidates receiving graduate degrees and one for candidates receiving undergraduate degrees.  These celebrations include December 2023 graduates, May 2024 graduates, and August 2024 candidates who filed prior to the deadline.

These ceremonies will take place at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Campus Center Lawn, 100 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125.

Commencement is outdoors rain or shine on the Campus Center Lawn and the graduate and guest seating areas are NOT tented. Review the weather forecast and be prepared for all scenarios (rain gear, sunblock).

Graduate Commencement Ceremony

Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

The graduate commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Procession of graduates begins at 2:30 p.m. Candidates for doctoral and master’s degrees, certificates of advanced graduate study (CAGS and EDS), and post-master’s certificates will be invited to participate in this program with the Chancellor, Deans and faculty.

Doctoral candidates: please note that we are holding a separate ceremony for the doctoral hooding. The hooding ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. Procession of graduates begins at 9:45 a.m. in the Ballroom on the 3rd floor of the Campus Center, 100 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA 02125. You are encouraged to attend both the doctoral hooding ceremony and the graduate commencement ceremony, as you are invited to participate in both!

Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony

Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. 

The undergraduate commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024. Procession of graduates begins at 8:45 a.m.  Candidates for bachelor’s degrees will be invited to participate in this program with the Chancellor, Deans, and faculty.

At both ceremonies, graduates will have their names called and receive diploma covers. Diplomas will be mailed at a later date.
