U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., will travel to Iowa and hold events in Creston, Atlantic and Winterset on behalf of Elizabeth Warren’s campaign for president.

“I’m excited to continue this fight alongside Elizabeth,” Porter said. “From Iowa to Orange County, this country needs big, structural change if we’re going to rescue the middle-class. I know Elizabeth will take on corruption and ensure every American has the opportunity to thrive.”

In 2018, Porter won an election to represent California’s 45th congressional district, flipping a Republican seat in Orange County.

Prior to her election to Congress, Porter was a consumer protection attorney and a tenured law professor at the University of California, Irvine. Porter earned her law degree at Harvard Law School, where she was a student of Warren’s.

Born in Fort Dodge, Porter is a fifth-generation Iowan, and grew up on a farm south of Winterset. She was faculty at the University of Iowa College of Law from 2005 to 2011, teaching bankruptcy and consumer protection.
