3 Winter looks for 1 Entry by CountyRoad407.com #winterdecor #winterdecorating #transitionaldecorating #transitionalwinterdecorating #decorating #winterlooks
Spread the love

Good morning!  We are blog hoppin’ again today and if you’re leaping over from Sweet Pea and her fun winter details, I’m glad you’re here!  It’s a Cozy Winter Homes Tour.  Mine isn’t a full tour but I’m showing you 1 entry with 3 winter looks.  So I guess you could say we’re touring the entry 3 times.  πŸ˜‰

First though, how have you been my sweet friends?!  I feel as if we’ve not had a nice chat in a while even though we sorta kinda have.  One thing I keep pondering is something I heard on New Years Eve.  Someone said that when the clock strikes midnight, whatever it is you are doing is generally what you’ll be doing for the rest of the year.  Have you ever heard that?  If it’s the least bit true then I’m having a fantastic 2019!  The Mister and I were with friends at a 50’s prom mystery game night and we were crowned Prom King and Queen!  So fun!  Friends, games and queen for all of 2019?  I’ll take it!

Anyway, not that that has anything to do with today’s post unless it counts as what I was thinking about when I was doing my thang, but I finally got around to decorating for winter and started with the entry.

The entry is traversed several times a day.  Whether we come in the front door or through the garage; the entry is truly the entry.  It took me a while to decorate because honestly, I enjoy the emptiness when the Christmas decor is finally put away.  It seems so clean, spacious and peaceful.

Then a couple of weeks go by and I’m ready to cozy it up.  In doing so I decided not to spend money and only pull things from around the house.  I pulled so many things that I couldn’t decide which I liked best.  Hence the 1 entry with 3 winter looks.

1 Entry with 3 Winter Looks

I think the easiest way to show you 3 different wintery looks would be to use 3 different color combinations.

Look #1

First up is the blue/teal combo.  After moving in a chair, table and lamp, I started with finding a pillow in a winter color I liked.  After adding a comfy throw blanket that instantly cozies up the chair, I then started shopping the house.  I found my favorite vintage blue bottles.  They work perfectly with that pillow.

I love bringing the outdoors in and find that it softens my surroundings and tablescapes so I usually try and find a place for greenery.  Then a couple of books with the same teal color complete this winter vignette.  I like how it turned out – still a little spacious looking.

I love bringing the outdoors in and I find it softens any tablescape so I will usually try and find a place for it. A couple of books with the same colors round off this winter vignette. I like how it turned out.

Look #2

The second winter look is with black accents.  I don’t have a black throw blanket so I used a black twin sized quilt instead.  Who says it has to be a throw blanket? πŸ˜‰

Then I gathered other items that were black and it turned into a lantern fest.  Do y’all fill your lanterns with something other than candles?  I think it’s more fun to fill them with the unexpected.  The tall one has a pinecone mix inside which I feel works well with the wood tones and the pillow that reminds of snowflakes.  This vignette isn’t as colorful but I think it still looks welcoming and cozy as we walk through the entry.

Look #3

Here is the third and last look – our winter white and green vignette.  Comfy throw blanket?  Check.  Fluffy white pillow?  Check.  Greenery?  Double check.

This one is my favorite look.  I think because it has the wreath holder I made (you can see that DIY here), a photo of Scout, our donkey (you can read about her here), and a couple of my favorite magazines.  Of course the brownies are just for looks snacks and the cup is already in the dishwasher but I hope to find time to sit here one day and read a magazine.

Can you see how easy it is to change 1 entry into 3 different winter looks just by shopping your home with color in mind?  Easy peasy lemon squeezy!

I like #2 the best – love those pine cones in your lantern. Your entryway is very inviting. Great job!

    • January 21, 2019 / 10:07 am

Thanks Barbara! I think a little black compliments every room. Got that pinecone mix at Hobby Lobby during Christmas. They may have some left and at 75% off too, if you’re interested!

  2. January 21, 2019 / 8:27 am

While I love them all,I think #3 is my favorite.

    • January 21, 2019 / 10:09 am

Great minds think alike BJ. There’s something about all of them that I like. Just couldn’t have everything. πŸ˜‰

  3. January 21, 2019 / 8:33 am

i love the basket with greenery! love it! laura in CO

    • January 21, 2019 / 10:11 am

Thank you Laura. I found the little basket at a store in Brenham, TX and cut a stem off of a piece of garland I had. Super cheap and super cute!

  4. January 21, 2019 / 9:40 am

Oh my goodness Cindy! They are all fabulous, but number three is my favorite. And you have inspired me to make one of those wreath holders. I think I have everything I need to make it. SUPER cute!!!

    • January 21, 2019 / 10:18 am

Yay Tammy! I love love love hearing that you were inspired to try the wreath holder. It’s one of my favorites and I’ve used it all over the house. You made my day!

I like the third one, it is cozy and peaceful, a lovely place to enjoy a book and some brownies!!!

    • January 21, 2019 / 11:36 am

LOL – I can enjoy brownies just about anywhere Marlene! I love the third one the best myself. Great minds think alike. πŸ™‚

  6. January 21, 2019 / 11:10 am

Is it ok if I say I love all three? The wall basket is especially beautiful. Need to add that to my list when I’m out antiquing.

    • January 21, 2019 / 11:38 am

No sorry, you cannot like all three. LOL. I liked something from all of them but couldn’t make it look good when I mixed all of them together. You’ll love the basket. I’ve used it in a Christmas collage, on the front door, on the mantel, now the entry. Very versatile!

  7. January 21, 2019 / 11:22 am

Cindy, I love all three looks! Your basket planter is so lovely! Happy to be joining you on the hop! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

    • January 21, 2019 / 11:39 am

Thank you Cecilia. I love that basket planter too. Helps me enjoy the winters!

  8. January 21, 2019 / 11:28 am

Cindy, I am torn….I love all three of your foyer. What a great inspiring post. Love all the touches of winter in your foyer.

    • January 21, 2019 / 11:41 am

It’s okay to be torn Terrie. I loved something from all three looks. Can’t put them all into one look so I guess it gives me another excuse to change things up. Like maybe next week! :0

  9. January 21, 2019 / 11:36 am

Well Queen Cindy, I like them all.

I’m going to choose #3 because I spy those brownies on the table and what better way to greet friends than with chocolate!

    • January 21, 2019 / 11:44 am

Girl, those brownies didn’t last long enough to greet a guest. LOL! But the surroundings did. Thanks for the visit Carol! πŸ˜‰

  10. January 21, 2019 / 12:30 pm

All three are gorgeous. I adore that wall basket and that wicker chair is a stunner.

    • January 21, 2019 / 1:14 pm

Thanks Marty! That means a lot. The chair came from Pier 1. πŸ˜ƒ

    January 21, 2019 / 3:50 pm

So pretty! Look #3 is my overall favorite, but I love elements from all, especially the blue glass bottles and the lanterns. I love the chair and the lamp as well! You’ve inspired me!

    • January 21, 2019 / 4:34 pm

Thank you Vicki, me too! I’ll need to switch it up in about a week so I can enjoy the other looks too. πŸ˜‰

  12. January 21, 2019 / 4:27 pm

I like all of them, Cindy! I’d have a hard time deciding, especially since you picked some of my favorite color combos. Now if you would have done a combo with red or orange or purple…;) Always fun hopping with you, especially when we’re neighbors!

    • January 21, 2019 / 4:39 pm

Oh my, I’m definitely not a red, orange or purple girl wither. Wish we were real neighbors. I was thinking that a vintage birdcage would make my entry just perfect! No anyone who has one I can borrow? πŸ˜‰

  13. January 22, 2019 / 4:44 am

I like all three looks but number three wins for me because I adore that framed picture of Scout!

    • January 22, 2019 / 8:52 am

LOL. I adore that little stinker too. It makes me smile every time I walk by. Thanks Paula!

  14. January 22, 2019 / 9:32 am

Cindy, I love all 3 looks…I don’t know that I could decide on just one! Have a great one! Love and hugs!

    • January 22, 2019 / 11:19 am

Thanks! I’m with you Benita. I’ll change things up in a few days and try another look for a week or so. πŸ˜‰

    January 22, 2019 / 2:48 pm

I’m having a difficult time trying to decide which look I like the best. They are all beautiful! I love that basket filled with the winter greens and the sweet burlap lamp is so pretty! It has been so much fun being on this hop with you! Enjoy your week!!!

    • January 22, 2019 / 3:32 pm

Thank you sweet Shannon. I added the lace and button to the burlap lamp the day after I got it. We can’t have a plain ol’ lamp shade around here! Not sure I’ve left ANY of the lamps I purchased the same. LOL. Glad you popped over. Enjoy your short week!

  16. January 22, 2019 / 7:45 pm

Cindy, Scout won me over, along with those brownies, so number 3 is my favorite! Actually I’ve been planning on painting a donkey or two for our guest bedroom for quite sometime.

    • January 22, 2019 / 9:44 pm

Awe. When we looked at all the donkeys up for adoption, she won me over instantly. I thought her face looked like she got into a bag of flour. She’d make a great model for your pictures. πŸ˜‰. Thanks for popping over Carol! ❀️

  17. January 22, 2019 / 8:05 pm

Cindy, your highness, you have outdone yourself by showing not only one, but three fabulous color schemes for your entry! I love them all but green is my favorite color so I have to say that the third is my favorite.

GAHHHH I am distracted by those brownies. Dang food allergies!

Back to the post… I love how you have incorporated the greenery in those baskets. Simple winter perfection!

The queen of 2019 deserves some “me” time, so be sure to sit down with a cup of coffee or tea and catch up on your magazines. Oh, and please eat a brownie or three for me while you are at it!

Thanks so much for joining our hop! Stay cozy dear friend!

    • January 22, 2019 / 9:46 pm

Thank you Amber. I would love to be queen all the time! Had to share the brownies. Guilt got to me. LOL! Always love hopping with y’all. Stay warm!

    • January 23, 2019 / 12:48 pm

Thank you so much Kristin! That means a lot. I ended up liking all of them too so I bet I change it up again next week. BTW, I’m still calling myself “Queen” around here. πŸ˜‰

  21. January 28, 2019 / 2:48 pm

I’m with you after the holidays. It’s nice to bask in the emptiness until creativity comes a knocking. I so love the idea of the 3 looks! My favorite is the 3rd as well maybe it’s because green is my favorite color. You’ve got such a beautiful, open entry!

    • January 28, 2019 / 9:55 pm

Thank you Christy. πŸ™‚ I love green too. It’s a very soothing color to me. Hope you have a great week. ❀️. Thanks for visiting!
