CGAP Global Pulse Survey of Microfinance Institutions
Conducted June to December 2020, the CGAP Global Pulse Survey of Microfinance Institutions gave the financial inclusion community its first picture of how the COVID-19 pandemic initially impacted the microfinance sector at the global and regional levels. By showing how the pandemic played out across the sector, the survey was designed to help funders and regulators effectively support the microfinance sector and to inform planning by microfinance institutions. The survey concluded on 15 December 2020, capturing data as of 30 September 2020; 399 microfinance institutions participated in at least one wave of the survey.
Following and building on the pulse survey, CGAP and Symbiotics began releasing joint “snapshots” on how the pandemic is affecting Symbiotics’ global portfolio of over 300 microfinance institutions.
