Four Seasons offers free stay for medical workers fighting coronavirus

Billionaires’ Row is the new shelter for overworked medical staffers.

Doctors, nurses and other medical personnel battling the coronavirus pandemic can stay free of charge at the five-star Four Seasons New York on the ultra-exclusive stretch of 57th Street, the hotel announced Wednesday.

“Our health care workers are working tirelessly on the front lines of this crisis,” Ty Warner, the founder and chairman of Ty Warner Hotels and Resorts, which owns the Four Seasons, said in a statement.

A one-night stay in the glamourous digs can fetch $1,295, but the hotel has temporarily closed to guests and won’t otherwise be taking reservations until at least April 15 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

New York City has become the country’s epicenter for the COVID-19 outbreak, overwhelming medical workers across the five boroughs. The billionaire, who is also the creator Beanie Babies, said he was inspired to step up by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s dire daily briefings on the pandemic.

Warner hopes offering up the ritzy rooms at the five-star hotel will help cut down commute times for medical workers at facilities nearby.

“Many of those working in New York City have to travel long distances to and from their homes after putting in 18-hour days,” he said in a statement. “They need a place close to work where they can rest and regenerate. I heard Governor Cuomo’s call to action during one of his press conferences, and there was no other option for us but do whatever we could to help.”
