EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

This is a lump sum general contract for construction of additions and renovations of Tri-Cities High School. This project is included in Capital Plan 2022.

 

The scope of the project includes: A New Physical Education Addition, a New Culinary Arts Addition, new CTAE and Art modifications, Auditorium and Classroom renovations. Electrical improvements include replacement of emergency generator, adding monitoring to the emergency generator, and connecting network closets to generator. Scope of work includes replacement of main gymnasium sound system and installation of booster system for emergency responder communication, replacement of controls and ionization units in the Performing Arts Building, add monitoring points at exhaust fans, and add HVAC to IDF/MDF Rooms. Auditorium renovations include replacement of stage flooring, seating, stage curtains, theatrical lighting, and renovation of dressing rooms. Black Box Theater scope of work includes floor finishing, replacement of theatrical lighting and relocation of sound booth. Replace Freezer Cooler and install additional freezer. Scope of work at Main Gymnasium includes replacement of bleachers, wood flooring, renovation of gym concessions, and new athletic/PE lockers.

 

The work on this project will be completed as of August 2022.

Five (5) proposals were received, and four (4) proposals were deemed to be in the competitive range. A Best and Final Offer was received from each contractor. The contractor recommended for award is Carroll Daniel Construction Co. with a base offer amount of $11,700,000.00, add alternates in the amount of $992,000.00 for a total offer amount of $12,692,000.00. A contingency amount of $761,520.00 is also included in this award recommendation.

BUDGET:
Construction budget will be transferred from the planned FY21 capital program reserve in accordance with the capital program strategy presented in June 2020.

 

MOTION STATEMENT:

I move that the Fulton County Board of Education approve Carroll Daniel Construction Co. the responsive and responsible Offeror whose proposal has been determined in writing to provide the best offer to the Fulton County Board of Education, taking into consideration the evaluation factors set forth in the request for proposals, for the construction contract referenced above. The requested amount is $13,453,520.00 which includes the construction base offer, selected alternates, and contingency. This item is submitted for action.
