Biography

2021: Dalton moved into the S-back for the Hornets and made an immediate impact on the production of the Hornet offense. Despite suffering an injury and being forced to miss the final six games of the season, Cowan recorded 331 yards on 29 receptions in the first six games. Due to his performance, Cowan earned All-MIAA Second Team at All-Purpose Back.

2020-21: Despite the cancelled season, Dalton was named to MIAA Academic Honor roll.

2019: In his RS sophomore season for the Hornets, Dalton played at QB for the Hornets and played in all 11 games. He totaled 1,683 yards and 11 touchdowns and added 241 yards and 6 touchdowns on the ground. He was also named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

High School: First-team All Class 5A…first-team All-Centennial League…Topeka Offensive Player of the Year…Gridiron Top 25 prospect in Kansas…passed for 1,870 yards and 20 touchdowns while adding 589 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground for Seaman HS…will be a Kansas Shrine Bowl participant…father Jeff Cowan played for the Hornets.

He has displayed great poise and leadership throughout his career, and we are excited about his future with Emporia State."  Before committing to Emporia State he received interest from a number of Division 1 programs and is listed on the Kansas Gridiron Top 25 prospect list.  Higgins: "Dalton possesses an extremely strong arm and is an extremely talented athlete.
