Q: Will housing spaces be restricted for 2021-2022 housing?

University Village Housing will be adapting our room configurations and community guidelines based on the recommendations by federal/state/local and Department of Health Officials throughout the 2021-2022 Academic Year. This may limit the number of students that can be in each room, and as such will impact our availability of spaces throughout next academic year. Due to the uncertainty and limited occupancy, we CANNOT guarantee students will be offered a space. As we are able, University Village will open more spaces and adjust its policies throughout the year.

Q: What is the current plan for Fall 2021 Housing?

University Village Housing is excited to be welcoming back residents to its communities next year (in Phase I, II, III). Planned capacity for Fall 2021 is 86% and room types will include suite singles apartments, and single occupancy rooms. As we are able, University Village will open more spaces and adjust its policies throughout the year.

The following room types will be available in the Fall 2021:

  • Phase 1: Single occupancy rooms (2 ppl per apartment)
  • Phase 2: Single occupancy rooms (4 per apartment)
  • Phase 3: Single occupancy rooms (4 per apartment)

Q: How will housing be prioritized?

At this time, priority for housing assignments and preferences is given to students that apply early. Please be aware that due to Covid, students will be expected to be vaccinated two weeks prior to move-in.

Q: Will RAs still live on property to support us?

Yes. Residential staff will remain living on-property and will continue to provide support for our residents.

Q: Will facilities staff still be available to respond to service requests?

Yes. Maintenance and custodial teams will continue operating within our residential communities and will continue to respond to service requests. Maintaining a clean-living environment is a community responsibility and an imperative for both personal and community health and well-being.

Q: Will community programs still be held?

Yes, programs will still be planned by the University Village for residents to learn and engage with peers and staff. For this coming year, our programming and engagement will be done in a hybrid model, both virtually and in-person (maintaining CDC health guidelines). We still want to build a sense of community and foster student success here at the University Village. All programs will be planned following campus, local and state guidelines.

Q: Will community space still be available for use?

As of this moment our community spaces are still closed, but this is subject to change as CDC Guidelines change. Residents will be updated as the situation changes.

Q: Will I still have access to campus amenities?

This will be dependent on the building and services. Many campus amenities (BSC/BRIC/etc.) have closed and/or will be limiting services. Campus Dining will still be open in a limited capacity. Social distancing measures will be implemented in all buildings that remain open. Essential functions to support continued teaching, learning, and student services will continue.

Q: Will residents be required to get a COVID Vaccine?

Following the California State University (CSU) system’s COVID-19 vaccination requirement announced earlier today, Cal Poly Pomona will require all students to upload their vaccination record into MyHealthPortal by August 16. After this date, students coming to campus who are not fully vaccinated or who have not verified their vaccination record will be required to be tested for COVID-19 at least weekly.

The CSU has announced a deadline of September 30 for all students to verify their vaccination record OR request a medical or religious exemption. After September 30, students participating in on-campus activities who are not in compliance with CSU policy may face disciplinary action.

Q: Will residents be able to exempt from the COVID Vaccine and remain in University Village Housing?

Students may seek an exemption to the vaccination requirement based on medical or religious grounds. Those who receive an exemption and come to campus will be required to participate in weekly COVID-19 testing starting August 16.

Q: Do I need to send University Village Housing proof of my vaccination?

CPP Students:

Visit the Student Health website for instructions on uploading your vaccination record. Students who upload their vaccination record by August 27 will be entered to win $50 in Bronco Bucks. Please note that it may take 3 to 10 business days for your record to be verified, so we encourage you to upload your record as soon as possible. If you have IT-related questions about the upload process, email myhealthportal@cpp.edu.

Non-CPP Students:

The instructions or process to send proof of your vaccination, will be emailed to you soon.

Q: Will residents have to take periodic COVID tests?

CPP Students:

Public health officials recommend that colleges and universities implement a public health testing program to detect, monitor and mitigate cases of COVID-19 on campus. Testing is one step in the university’s Health and Safety Plan for reducing the risk of COVID-19 transmission.

Starting August 16, weekly testing will be required of students whose vaccination record is not verified, or who are not fully vaccinated, or who have received a medical or religious exemption. Fully vaccinated individuals whose vaccination record has been verified will be exempt from testing, unless otherwise required by CPP policy, or by local, state or federal health authorities.

Details about the on-campus testing program will be announced in August and also posted on Safer Return’s Testing webpage.

Non-CPP Students:

The information of your testing program and/or potential testing sites will be emailed to you soon.

Q: Will I have a meal plan and be able to eat in Center Pointe Dining Commons?

The campus dining facilities will be adjusting their occupancy, process, and hours to safely accommodate the dining needs of our residents. Where can it be used?

Each plan comes with meal swipes which can be used for a meal at CenterPointe. They also come with an amount of Bronco Bucks which can be used at any restaurant on campus, any on campus groceries (Vista or Farm Store), or anything at the Book Store.
