SOFA is Norways most important record label for experimental music. Starting up in 2000 alongside the Rune Grammofon label, a new wave of exciting, adventurous music started coming out of Norway. SOFA is counting 65 releases to date and at Cafe OTO on the 26 and 27 of March you can hear four of the label's featured artists.

Ingar Zach

Mr. Zach is one of the founders of SOFA. His solo work has seen many different version through the years. His three solo albums on SOFA have been highly acclaimed by the critics and shows an artist exploring new ways of treating percussion. At Cafe Oto he will present his solo snare performance using a custom made snare drum and vibrating speakers. Have a listen to mr. Zach's latest solo at Cafe Oto back in 2014 here:

John Tilbury / Keith Rowe / Kjell Bjørgeengen

What to say about these honorable gentlemen. They've been the reference point in experimental music and video for decades and are still on the top of their game. SOFA is extremely proud to release Tilbury and Rowe again after their astonishing 4 cd box - Enough still not to know. In April SOFA will release the new album ‘Sissel’, a recording from Stavanger in January 2017. The album will be available both as LP and CD. This time a long time collaborator with both Tilbury and Rowe, the norwegian video artist Kjell Bjørgeengen, is contributing importantly with his one of a kind images. A must to see and hear !

Vilde&Inga

Vilde Sandve Alnæs (violin) and Inga Margrete Aas (double bass) are to amazing musicians who has been developing a unique musical organism for many years now. After their debut on ECM records, SOFA managed to convince them to release their second album, Silfr on SOFA. It's truly a privelige to listen to Vilde&Inga making music together. The seem like one entity with their rich and organic way of playing.
One of SOFA's favorites.

Muddersten

Steam, friction, a microtonal tuba and The Hayward Tuning Vine meets an electric guitar cross-connected with percussive electronics recorded in real time and played back on an old Tandberg tape machine. This is in short what you can expect when Martin Taxt, Henrik Olsson and Håvard Volden teem up together. It's also a facinating visual experience, and the music is something else. Muddersten can only sound like Muddersten. Last fall they performed at the adventurous festival Le Guess Who? in Utrecht. Their second album on SOFA, Playmates will be released at Cafe Oto this evening.
