Evviva Weinraub, Associate University Librarian for Collections & Technologies at Northwestern University, has been elected as the 2020-2021 President of the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA). She will serve as Vice-President during 2019-20.

When she was notified of her win, Weinraub said, "I am pleased, honored, and humbled to serve as your next LITA President-Elect. I am honored to have an opportunity to join an august line of LITA Presidents whom I have long admired and respected and to have an opportunity to lead this phenomenal organization. I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone who ran in this year’s election, all of whom have made tremendous contributions to our organization, and I expect to call on each of you to continue to serve."

Weinraub has served as a member-at-large on the LITA Board of Directors since 2016. She has chaired several LITA committees and interest groups and recently served on the Organizational Structure Working Group for the proposed ALCTS/LITA/LLAMA New Division. She has represented LITA interests with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) by serving as a delegate for the IT Standing Committee for the last few years and is the current co-convener of IFLA’s Women, Information & Libraries Special Interest Group and the Linked Data Special Interest Group.

As part of her efforts to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion in library technology, she hosted and helped organize LITA's first and second AvramCamp, a one-day preconference that provides women and non-binary technology library workers with a safe and welcoming space to explore common challenges faced, learn strategies for dealing with them, and discuss specific tools to build their confidence.

In addition to her LITA work, Weinraub has helped reshape the structure and governance of the Samvera community, lead strategic planning efforts with the Fedora community, and set the strategic direction of the Avalon project. She has also been on the board for DuraSpace and was instrumental in the forthcoming merger with Lyrasis.

LITA members also elected Galen Charlton and Hong Ma as new Board members-at-large, and Jodie Gambill, who will serve as LITA’s Councilor on the ALA Council.

We thank all of the candidates who stood for election, as well as all of our members who voted. Your efforts are crucial to the success of LITA and will help us continue to grow in the future.
