They always say that two wrongs don’t make a right...

Well, she was wrong for breaking into a house that didn’t belong to her; even if she and her daughter had nowhere else to go.

And, I was wrong for watching her on the surveillance camera as she moved through the house and climbed into bed.

Her smile…
Her curves…

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
So I LOVED book one in this series but wasn't a huge fan of book two. That made this book the make it or break it book of the series. And I liked it. Not quite as much as book one but WAY more than I did book two. The writing was fantastic. The pace was very good. It was humorous <-- I think this author excels at writing funny scenes. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. I had a tiny bit of an issue with the mystery aspect feeling underdeveloped. The climax just sort of came out of left field and I felt like the author should have just left the black charger explanation with the reveal at the restaurant. The whole didn't have enough buildup or background info laid out to support it. Because of that it just felt like the author threw it in at the last moment for extra drama. Last, this was all wrapped up in a sweet if somewhat confusing epilogue. We get a look at this couple (and everyone else) three years on. The slightly odd part was that we hear about two of the brothers and their wives who haven't gotten books (or heroines) yet. Personally, I just think epilogues like that are better suited for the final book of a series than the middle of one. That's just ME though.

~HERO~
DAMON...I don't have much to say about the guy. He was a good hero. He was sweet. He was sexy. I loved his relationship with Bee. I loved his interactions with his family. I have NO idea if he was a manwhore or not (I felt not) but there is next to nothing said about his sexual past. He was all about Katy right from the start.

~HEROINE~
KATY...sigh. Katy was pretty much the sole reason I didn't love this one more. I had a bit of a like-hate thing going on with her character. Sometimes she came across really warm and sweet especially in her interactions with Bee. But a lot of the times (especially in her inner thoughts) she just sounded like a cold grade-A bitch. She just had such a nasty attitude towards anyone trying to help her. I don't know. I am having a hard time expressing why I didn't like her. I just never totally warmed up to her.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
As with the first two books, the best parts are the secondary characters. I love all the brothers. I love the wives. The mothers. The fathers. The friends. I ADORE Ringo. I love the kids. I just love the whole BIG FAT GREEK FAMILY feel these books have.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Low. This was super slow burn in my opinion. No sex until 70% into the book. That said, the few sex scenes we got were suitably hot. That couple had OK on page sexual chemistry. I'm chalking my OK feelings about it up to me not loving the heroine (lol).

~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. I didn't find this one particularly angsty. The relationship is pretty intsta. There are a few bumps in the road, but nothing HUGE. There was also no OW or OM drama.

~IN THE END~
I liked it. There were a few things that kept me from rating it higher but all in all, it was an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Therefore, yours truly is giving this one two thumbs up and I am excited to see which brother is going to get his HEA next < -- I vote for Tristian!description

This is a fun, sweet and sexy read with low angst with no cheating, no manwhores and it has a feel-good vibe to it. It is well written like all the other books by this author but once again for me I felt that something was missing. Do I know what it was? No.

I’ll tell you exactly why I can’t give it more than three stars.

The plot of the book is solid. The Hero lets the heroine live in one of his show homes, well that’s not entirely the right word. She is a squatter, but she has her reasons why.

The author lays it out what Katy’s struggles were and how the past nine years have been she would do anything different and she sacrificed a lot that her experiences broke my heart a wee bit. But yes, there is always a but, at times it was too much.

The Hero doesn’t ask how the heroine knew to apply for the position as his secretary. He only checked a website for candidates but didn’t post anything that he was looking for a new secretary.
Or maybe I overlooked that?

Was it mentioned by the heroine that she was looking for a flat to the Hero? He asks her to housesit but come on she must have cottoned on to it.

Those two points could have been tightened IMO.

The humor and banter is top notch but I think that romantic comedies can be taken too far when there is too much humor that takes away my attention from the overall plot. Which for me happened here.

The star of the book is Bee she is so frigging adorable. The Christakos Greek family is the best it really added that special touch to the book.

The MC relationship felt somewhat strained IMO and it was so slow. Damon did everything he could think of to make Katy feel at ease. Her mistrust in everything got to be really annoying.

I really need to ponder if I want to continue with the series.

Katy Nichols would do anything for her daughter Bee. When she became pregnant in high school, her parents kicked her out when she refused to have an abortion. She’s been on her own ever since. As a single mother, she struggles to make ends meet. In an effort to save enough for permanent housing, Katy and her daughter have been sneaking in to and staying in the model homes in a new housing development. She’s not proud of this, but does what she can to make amends by cleaning the homes they stay in.

When Damon Christakos finds a child’s sock and drawings in one of the model homes for his construction company, he decides to install surveillance equipment to find out what is going on. When he sees a mother and child living in the home, he can’t quite stop watching and listening to them interact. With no intentions of turning them in, Damon instead finds a way to offer Katy a job without her realizing he knows who she is or where she has been living.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, but Damon truly wants to give this woman and her daughter a chance at a better life. He never expected to fall for both of them as quickly as he did and now he wants to make them a permanent part of his life. Katy is not up to taking a handout for anyone, but the job offer seems to be a godsend when she needs it most. What she didn’t expect to come with it was a large Greek family that immediately takes her and Bee in making them a part of their large and loving family with no questions asked.

What happens, however, when the truth finally comes out . . . as a secret this big can’t stay hidden forever. Katy’s past is also coming after her and Bee with a vengeance and the only thing standing between her and the biggest mistake of her life is Damon. Will it be enough to not only keep Katy and Bee safe but also keep them in his life?

While Impact part of a series, it could easily be read as a standalone - it was actually my first book I have read in the series and I had no issues jumping right in. I immediately fell in love with this story and the characters. Katy is an awesome mom and has raised a very special little girl. I loved how close the two of them are and was thrilled when they suddenly found themselves surrounded by family, even if it wasn’t theirs, for the first time in Bee’s life.

Damon is a gem of a man. He really wanted to do the right thing by Katy and Bee even before he knew who they were and just how important they would become to him. Even though you knew the secret would eventually come out, you could see just how genuine his feelings were for both Katy and Bee. The entire Christakos is also amazing. I love how easily the incorporated Katy and Bee into their family, even if things with Damon don’t last forever.

I found this to really be a sweet and feel good story and want more from this series! 5 stars!

Impact is the third book in Danielle Norman’s Iron Orchids series, but it works perfectly fine as a standalone. I read it as a standalone and the only issue I had was a small one – there were points where I found it difficult to keep all the characters straight in my head. This one has a big cast, a cast fans will have been introduced to in Enough and Almost, and I feel as though things would have been straighter in my mind had I read the prior books. It was not enough to diminish my interest in this one, but it was something I thought I would mention in case anyone else was looking to dive into the series at Impact.

I started Impact at around one in the morning, thinking I would read a couple of chapters before bed. It was a mistake to do so. I kept telling myself to put the book down and sleep, kept telling myself I had work in the morning, yet the little voice in my head was silenced – I kept turning the pages. Before I knew what had happened, it was coming up to four o’clock in the morning and I’d finished the book. Such is the level of addiction, such is how deeply this one pulls you in.

From the very start of Impact you’re intrigued by the characters and their actions, curious as to how the story will come together. You’re sucked into all the drama, all the details, and keep turning the pages as you find yourself desperate for more. With plenty going on within the story, and lots of laughter to be had, this book grips you tight throughout.

Without a doubt, I adored the relationship between the characters in this one. It was one of those stories that went from cracking me up to pulling at my heartstrings, leaving me with whiplash as I rocketed between my emotions. Throughout the relationship builds, yet there are always questions hiding under the surface and events waiting to throw you off centre – I was thoroughly engrossed, hoping and dreading the moment when everything would come together. I was so invested in the story, so desperate to see how everything came together, that I could not put the book down.

There is no doubt I will be picking up Enough and Almost in the future, as I wish to find out more about the Iron Orchids series, and I’ll certainly be grabbing the future books when they’re released.

Impact (Iron Orchids) by Danielle Norman

I enjoy stories with meaning. Maybe that's why I've become a fan of Ms. Norman as quickly as I have. Ever the optimist, even in moments of darkness, she brings out the light. Impact proves that a sense of humor can be a balm to the soul. Katy has been a victim of life's ironies. She built her life on fairy tale hopes and instead found them to be pipe dreams. A single mom without much to her name and options scarcely few, she needs a helping hand to give her the strength to push through. Her guardian angel has a few surprises up his sleeve. If he can convince her to trust her heart, the best may be yet to be. Impact is a heart full of pleasure. An inspiring tale of faith and courage that makes you laugh as you struggle to fight off the tears.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A light and funny romance that I read with pleasure =)
A romance that I really enjoyed with an endearing Greek hero and a single mother heroine with an adorable daughter ! (and who made me laugh so much xD)
A few small negative points that blocked me a bit : the heroine who was a little too hysterical at times (OK I can understand that she has a past but frankly, some things were a bit exaggerated...), the hero who initially spied on her (at zero moment it's acceptable !) and all the drama with the heroine's parents which is resolved a little too easily (forgiveness is good but it must not be exaggerated either ><)
In short, a perfect romance to distract us from everyday life =)
I am starting to hate the books whose blurbs make me want to read them, only to find out that I had too high expectations. I was expecting something a little more twisted than the story we got. I liked Damon, his family, and Bee, but Katy's character had some room for improvement. I couldn't understand her reasoning and she didn't make sense to me sometimes. Even though I liked that she did everything she could for her daughter, I couldn't like her much. Maybe she was used to be on her own for so long that she wasn't able to accept help from anyone.
Something that also bothered me was the Greek words that were used in this book. Some of them were correct and some weren't. Like the word koritsi which means girl and not daughter. The word the author was looking for is kori. I had an "Unsticky" deja vu when I read that, but thankfully it wasn't that bad.
Overall, the book was a big meh meh. It wasn't good or bad. It had a little bit of both. The best part was Damon's family. They embraced Katy and Bee. I would have liked to see more scenes where Damon and Bree were bonding. One of the bad things was the drama in the end with the black charger. There was no need for that. I will remain neutral on the recommendation.
Impact by Danielle Norman is book Three in the "Iron Orchids" series. This is the story of Katy and Damon. I haven't yet read the previous books but feel this is easily a standalone book. With that said I must say I enjoyed this book so much that I plan on going back and reading the others.
Katy had well off parents who placed allot of there beliefs on looks and what people thought. So when Katy feel pregnant at 17 years old they wanted her to not have the baby or they would cut her off. Katy choose her daughter and her parents kicked her out and she has been leaving had to mouth every since. Now about 9 years later Katy is still working toward a goal of getting a place for her and her daughter and has taken to living in model homes until they are sold. Damon spots her and her daughter in one of the family modern homes after he installs a camera to see who has been going into the home. Damon is quickly taken with Katy and her daughter. Damon hires Katy to work for him and starts to pursue a relationship with her. But how will Katy feel when she finds out he was spying on her and what happens when her past comes back for her?
Loved this book!
I loved this book so much!
Katy is one amazing lady!
She’s sassy and feisty and gives as good as she gets!
She’s also got a wicked sense of humor.
Damon well what can I say but I want a Damon lol
He’s not only a gorgeous successful man. But he’s also into family big time.
The one that stole my heart was Bee. What an amazing girl she is!
I didn’t read the previous two books but I had absolutely no problems understanding this one and getting to know who the other characters were.
Great story about loyalty,commitment,hard times and the importance of family and friends.
I loved The Christakos Clan!
They are the great bunch of people!
This is my first read by Ms. Norman.
I adored her writing style.
Got my attention from the start till the very end.
She developed the characters so well.
Had me not only invested in them but falling in love with them.
Will absolutely read more by this author!
I was recently asked, ”why did I have the underlying Presley aspect.”
I thought long and hard on this one and as with everything, I make sure that the psychological arc of the character matches their trouble. The parents needed a huge GRAND redemption. Bringing gifts, saying sorry, none if that would have sufficed. It needed to get you in the heart. But more than that it needed to get Katy in the one place she resented them most for--Bee.
I didn't want it to take away from the story, I simply wanted it to serve its purpose. It was the platter that delivered the parents to begin the reunion.
This series keeps getting better and better. Katy and Bee will break your heart and Damon proves that true heroes don’t have to wear badges. The bachelorette party had me laughing out loud and loving Ringo even more. Mess with the Iron Orchids at your own risk!
My heart broke for Katy as this one opened and we learned how she has been living. I can't imagine having to do that and yes it was wrong, but she "paid" for the usage in her own way. I thought it telling that despite doing the wrong thing, Katy talked to her daughter about it and down to earth and sweet Bee was.
It was easy to see how Damon fell for Katy while spying on her. I did like how he used what he learned for good, even as I knew it would come back to bit him and Katy would pitch a fit when she learned of things. I loved how Damon and Katy flirted, but most of all I loved how Damon was just there for Katy, helping her in big and small ways. Heck even his whole family got in on things, something Katy dearly needed in her life, people that cared for her, people to have fun with, just plain people. I loved seeing both Katy and Bee blossom surrounded by people that clearly cared for them both.
When the fit happened with Katy things went about how I expected with the surprise of the Santas, who shocked me. I was glad that Christina was able to get through Katy, to show her that things could have been so much worse and that Christina's love and caring didn't come with strings.
The ending made me smile! I loved that Bee's wishes came true before she could use them and that she rolled with the punches. I especially loved the bit with the cruise at the end, it had me laughing imagining it. I hope we get more details in the next books.
3.5 RATING - Cute story. Down on your luck woman and kid with a hero that falls instantly. Think Hallmark movie with a small dose of heat towards the end. Overall I liked it more than I was expecting and plan on reading more in the series.
Danielle Norman did it again with Impact!! How would it be to find a man just like Damon, who loves so strong and wants to protect those he loves. Enters Katy and Bee into his life in a very strange way but the love he has for both of them will move mountains.
When your past enters your life again do you run or lean on your family?
"The kidnap plot really wasn’t that well executed it kind of got lost in amongst the Damon and Katy love drama, it would have been better if it was more expended on. Other than that I loved the plot of Damon and Katy and I was on the side of my seat wondering when they were going to confess this secret to each other.
I love the big Greek family. I think this is one of my favourite things about these stories is that we see that big Greek family aspect!"
***I received an Advanced Readers Copy for an honest review. Thank you Give Me Books Promotions for providing the ARC***
For my first Danielle Norman, Impact was damn good! I cannot get enough of this writing style, it was something about the entire book that really had me from start to finish. I loved the characters, the plot, the overall pacing. Truth be told, I already bought Enough and Almost from the Iron Orchids Series in Paperback because I NEED MORE! More damnit. But before I get ahead of this review, I suppose I should get into the steamy details…
Firstly what stood out was the writing style of Norman. Everything was perfectly humorous. I laughed until my cheeks burned and my stomach was clenching. I cannot help but think this is one author who just has a knack at creating the most hilariously scenes that are perfection. I loved it, Norman had me chuckling within the first page of inner monologue to which I say “Thank you m’lady, you beautiful soul you…” because very few authors have had this same effect on me with their writing style.
With the writing style came the main characters that honestly, I was head over heels in love with. Damon is the reluctant hero who is possibly the sweetest (at times questionable type motivates) most sexiest of demeanor I have read. I enjoyed him possibly the most. Though I would have loved to have gotten a little more of his background story, I feel there was more to him than met the eye, but nonetheless he was the hero at the right time which fit perfectly. As for Katy, I swooned for her. At times I felt somewhat of a distaste towards her, really battled with my love/hate for her as a character. Not in a bad way, she was a struggling single mother which a really shitty history, so she was extremely guarded which at most times made her come off as a heinous basic bitch. At times she was rude to people trying to give her a helping hand, but I understood the situation, she had been burned and ruffled – she lived her recent years with just her and Bee (her daughter) knowing to not trusting anyone.
So I liked Katy, she annoyed me at times, but not in a bad way in the least, I understood her character. She was flawed and strong in so many ways, I loved this about her. The way she was with Bee was heart felt and touching. This of course aided in the angst drama situations of the novel. Here we have this relationship between Katy and Damon developing while Katy is still trying to do what is best for Bee. Once Damon’s Greek family gets involved this heightens the emotional conflicts Katy is battling. Letting people in, letting people close to her Bee bug – it was emotionally beautiful and fun to read!
Speaking of the blossoming relationship between Katy and Damon – can I just get a HOT DAMN?! Though it was a slow burn, I was completely engorged. From the slow tension between boss and employee situations (though I would have liked a little more in the office) to the housing situation, I liked it a lot. I will warn however that this is definitely a slow burn, there is sexual tension but definitely nothing really hits a climax until little over half the novel. I personally loved it. I thought this made the plot flow perfectly together instead of jumping right into the sex.
Overall, I loved it. I cannot get enough of this. I could not recommend Impact enough; I was beyond happy with spending my night reading this novel. I definitely plan on adding more Danielle Norman to my TBR because I need more of this woman in my life.
5 Stars!
I gotta say...I'm digging this Danielle Norman. Her stories are intriguing and her characters have become quite addicting. But this book right here might just be a very top favorite of mine. The plot... the execution... it was all perfection.
Impact is the third standalone in the Iron Orchids series and y'all just have no idea how amazing this book was. Sexy. Sweet. Endearing. Funny. All of the best feels possible. Norman delivered a killer romance that captivated me wholly start to finish and left me with a wicked book hangover.
She's a single mom doing what she has to do to make ends meet for her and her daughter. It might not be good or always right but she's doing the best she can. Until her world does a 360 spin. When he sees her on the monitor for the first time, everything changes. He's intrigued. He can't get her out of his mind. She's settled deep, and definitely not leaving.
It won't be easy because she's a tough nut to crack with thick armour made of steel. But Katy and Bee are worth it and Damien totally knows it.
I highly recommend this book.
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well and kept you interested. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Enough (Iron Orchids #1)
Almost (Iron Orchids #2)
This is Katy and Damon’s story. Katy needed a place to stay so she broke into a house so her and her daughter could have a place to go. She needed to sleep and did just that. What she didn’t know was she was on camera and the owner of the house saw everything. He offers her a job and a home knowing she needs it. But he has his own reasons for making the offer. He wants her and if he lets her go she might not give him a chance. She might just run before he gets to prove himself. Damon is about to prove to her and her daughter that they could make a life together. Will she want to even try?
I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book.
"Impact - have a strong effect on someone or something. For Katy, she vowed to raise her daughter, Bee, differently than the way she was raised. For Damon, he wanted to help the single mother and her daughter. Little did either one of them know what ""impact"" they were going to have on each other. When the woman in Damon's family (the Iron Orchids) enter into the mix, hilarity ensues and you will find yourself laughing out loud at thier antics. Can Katy learn to let people in? Is Damon ready for a woman in his life?
This was a throughly entertaining read. I definately need to read books 1 & 2 to catch up." ~Cindy
"Another great story in this series. I just loved it and it had me close to tears at times. I just wanted to grab ahold of Katy and give her big ol hugs. Damon had me loving him from the start..no I didn't agree with him keeping it all a secret but I understood his reasoning.
Plus you got to see the rest of the Iron Orchid ladies and their men. Family is first always with this group." ~Jen
So I have been waiting for another of the Christakos boys to fall and it just happens to be Damon this time. BTW I love their family!
When Damon finds a child's sock and other things in his construction site he decides to install surveillance equipment throughout. So while watching them, he finds that a woman and her child are sneaking in and staying the night on his property. He decides to help her instead of calling the cops.
Katy is then taken in as part of this wonderful family. And when the Christakos take in someone they don't do it halfway. But as everything does, Katy's past comes back to bite her. Will Damon fight for his future or will he let her go?
I really enjoyed this story! I voluntarily read an advance reader copy for my honest review.
Impact is my favourite book in this series so far. It is the story of Damon, Katy and the very adorable Bee, Katy's daughter Bee stole my heart.
I enjoyed the first two books but loved this story from start to finish. Katy and Bee have a great mother/daughter relationship and she would do anything to provide for and protect her daughter. Damon had a heart of gold and his protection and love for not only Katy but Bee as well had me swooning. They had great chemistry and the dynamic's of the family life they all just seemed to fall into worked so well.
As with the first two books, there are some great secondary characters. I'm loving the whole Big Greek Family storyline within this series.
I love the Christakos. I think they are a fantastic book family. Hence why I continue onward with this series. Impact is Damon's book. He was stellar in all ways. The h in this one, Katy, was a little too jaded and her inward dialogue made me want to bitch slap her an occasion. Although few, there were some scenes that were unnecessary or confusing in this book. I think Danielle Norman is a good writer. With experience and honing, she'll become fabulous. I'd recommend reading this series in order.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..I really enjoyed this book and it is a part of series but considered as standalone. I am embarrassed to say that I have the first 2 books and I haven't read them yet, yup not good. So that said you will love this family. Damon is a modern day prince charming and I really enjoyed Katy and Bee..That's all folks you need to grab a copy and read. Enjoy!
Another great installment
Each book in this series is as good and even better than the last. I loved Katy, Bee, and Damon along with the whole Christakos clan!
Once again, Danielle Norman hits it out of the park!! Loved the main characters, Damon and Katy, and the supporting ones as well. For days after, I was jonesing for more of this story.
Stella Bloom and Johathan Ash do a perfect job, (again) of narrating.
This is book three, and I'd recommend reading books 1 and 2 beforehand.
