Wicked Need

: WICKED NEED is the third installment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult THE WICKED HORSE erotic, romance series. Cat’s past has formed her present; from poverty and neglect, Cat found herself looking for the first convenient way out, and at the lowest point in her life when she married an older man-for money and security. But security is not all that it is cracked up to be when Cat finds herself the sexual plaything of her husband’s depravity and need to humiliate his younger wife. Left with nothing upon her husband’s death, Cat becomes Rand’s latest rescue, and the man with whom she will fall in love. The relationship between Cat and Rand begins prior to their introduction in WICKED NEED. Cat was a regular member at The Silo, and Rand was one of her many partners along with the Club owners, their partners, and any number of men and women who ventured into Cat’s life at the exclusive club. The $ex scenes are numerous, graphic, detailed, aggressive and intense. Nothing is off limits for our story line heroine or hero-Cat is a woman who believes she is not worthy of love and affection. The world building continues to focus on The Wicked Horse, and The Silo but in WICKED NEED both clubs take a step back from the story line premise. WICKED NEED follows our couple outside of The Silo, into their public and private lives, friendships and family, including the search for the truth about Cat’s past. WICKED NEED is an engaging and erotic story line with some controversial scenarios and intimate $ex scenes. The premise is provocative and spirited; the characters are impassioned, sexual and sensitive; the romance is emotional and intense. Sawyer Bennett weaves a tale of wicked seduction !

I think every woman needs a man like Rand Bishop in their lives. Rand works part-time at The Silo helping to deliver fantasies. He is a retired professional skier and leads a very laid back life. Catherine "Cat" Vaughn has been a member for a while and would normally come in with her much older, very rich husband while he just watched her play. Now that Cat's husband is dead, Rand finds out that she has been left with nothing, and no place to live. Since Rand has always felt a connection to Cat, he decides to help her out and offers up his place for her to crash until she can get on her feet again. As Rand and Cat spend more time together they realize that many things that they thought were true about each other, were in reality, not true. Cat had a very bad childhood and has always thought very poorly of herself. Rand realizes what a great person she truly is and things quickly develop between the two of them. What chemistry these two have...HOT! Like off the charts hot! I loved how this laid back guy quickly turns into a one-woman man! I enjoyed how all of our favorites were back helping Cat with problems from her past. And then there's Bridger! Every book in this series makes you fall in love with him even more. Overall this book was a great story, with great characters. Great addition to this series!

I had loved the previous book, Wicked Lust, and it was a given I was going to read WICKED NEED, while waiting for Bridger’s, of course! We had met both Cat and Rand before, albeit mostly in sexual situations at The Silo, a sex club. WICKED NEED picks up precisely where Wicked Lust left off, however it can easily be read as a standalone. Cat is now widowed and has been left penniless by her late husband – or is her husband the reason she is destitute? Rand, who knew her from The Silo, sees her sleeping in her car, and asks her to come home with him. Rand has a “White Knight” complex – he cannot help himself from rescuing damsels in distress – and he doesn’t apologise for the way he is. Rand is a particularly delicious character: a real gentleman, really sweet and considerate. Poor Cat has made too many bad choices in her sad life, but she slowly understands that she can make changes and, with Rand’s help, she begins to “woman up”. I love how Cat takes it one step at a time: nothing is rushed, and it was a pleasure to watch her become more assertive. Cat and Rand are both physically attracted to each other, but they also understand each other, and Rand is willing to give her all the space she needs, even if she doesn’t choose him. He honestly wants her to get her life back, and that was so nice for a change: to see a man who is sure of himself, confident, and not push the poor thing. Cat is not pathetic, far from it, but she is young and for the first time, she is allowed to do what she wants and hope for a better future as well. Even given that the environment is the same, that is characters from The Silo and their mates, the tone WICKED NEED is a world away from Wicked Lust. WICKED NEED is written from Rand and Cat’s points of views, and it is gentler and not as sexually wild, but definitely not tame! It just reflects Cat and Rand’s personalities perfectly. I also marvel at Ms. Bennett exemplary use of language, as the more I read, the more I found how differently Rand and Cat express themselves, again as compared to Cain and Sloane. In a way, WICKED NEED reads a bit as a suspense, at least as far as I’m concerned, in following Cat’s personal growth and trying to find answers to unanswered questions. There were some exquisitely painful passages where Cat looks back on her life and the choices she made, and every woman should be so lucky as to find herself a Rand Bishop. The story unfolds as I wished it, and this definitely does not mean the author took the easy way out, but that she let her characters deal with their issues; it was simply perfect. And what a beautiful and emotional ending! Sawyer Bennett hasn’t failed to impress me yet: WICKED NEED is another superb book by this very talented author.
